BuildMarshal is typically used by organizations (for example, construction companies). Depending on how your organization uses BuildMarshal:

  • Your organization may be the “controller” (or business) for content and personal information uploaded to, stored in, or accessed through the Services.

  • BuildMarshal may act as a “processor” (or service provider) that processes information on your organization’s instructions.

If you use BuildMarshal through an organization account, your administrator may be able to access and manage your account, permissions, and certain settings. Please contact your organization for questions about how it handles your data.

4. Information we collect

We collect information in three main ways: (1) information you provide, (2) information collected automatically, and (3) information we receive from connected services you authorize.

4.1 Information you provide

This may include:

  • Account and profile information, such as name, email address, phone number (if provided), company name, role, and authentication information

  • Billing and transaction information (we typically receive limited billing details and confirmation from payment providers rather than full payment card data)

  • Support and communications, such as messages you send to us, feedback, survey responses, and troubleshooting details you choose to share

4.2 Information collected automatically

When you use the Services, we may collect:

  • Device and usage information, such as IP address, device identifiers, browser type, operating system, app version, pages/screens viewed, features used, time spent, and referring pages

  • Log and diagnostic information, such as system activity, crash reports, performance metrics, and error logs

4.3 Information from connected services you authorize

If you connect third-party services (for example, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365), we may access and process information from those services as authorized by you or your administrator. Depending on the permissions granted, this may include:

  • Emails and attachments, subject lines, sender/recipient information, timestamps, and message content

  • Files and file metadata, such as file names, folders, permissions, timestamps, and contents

  • Calendar events and metadata, such as titles, attendees, times, and descriptions

  • Contacts and directory information, such as names, emails, phone numbers, and organizational details

We only access and process connected-service data to provide the functionality you request and as permitted by the scopes/permissions you approve. You can revoke access through your connected account settings and/or within the Services (where available).

4.4 Google API Services User Data

BuildMarshal’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. BuildMarshal uses Google user data only to provide user-authorized construction project management features, such as organizing project emails, files, calendar events, contacts, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and photos. BuildMarshal does not sell Google user data, does not use Google user data for advertising, and does not use Google user data to train generalized AI models.

5. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services

  • Authenticate users, administer accounts, and provide customer support

  • Process connected data to deliver features you enable, such as organizing project communications, generating summaries, extracting action items, creating structured project records, and writing back data when you request it (for example, creating or updating items you choose to create)

  • Personalize and optimize the user experience, including feature configuration and performance improvements

  • Monitor, prevent, and address security issues, fraud, abuse, and violations of our terms

  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce agreements

  • Communicate with you about service updates, security notices, and administrative messages

  • Send marketing communications where permitted by law, with opt-out options
